College buddies in the early 90's
Having a blast!
Suzanne was born and raised in Michigan, and like many Midwesterner’s, she grew up on
wholesome and home-cooked meals which were often times prepared with ingredients fresh from
her mom’s garden.
It was during college when Suzanne first met Randy. Recently, on a business trip Suzanne had an opportunity to reconnect with her old friend and she tried his granola. This inspired her to start a food company based in Michigan and name it Randy's Granola in honor of her friend. Now headquartered in Detroit, Randy's Granola is proud to be a part of the thriving food community in Michigan.
It was during a business trip to Michigan when Randy introduced Suzanne to his homemade
granola – she took one bite and fell in love. Suzanne convinced Randy his granola was too good to
keep to himself and it was then when the idea for Randy’s Granola was born. Suzanne and Randy have indeed come full circle and returned to their roots; their shared love and passion for food has proven to be a perfect match.
Randy was born and raised in West Michigan on a farm in Ottawa County. Growing up and working with his family on the family farm instituted in him a robust work ethic and an appreciation for being outside in the natural surroundings of Michigan’s West Coast.
Randy attended Grand Valley State University to study biology and photography. While attending
GVSU, Randy met Suzanne and both were involved in the same academic organizations and both
took part in a study abroad group that traveled to Belize and Guatemala, which solidified a lifelong
friendship. As with most college friends, the two went their separate ways for a few years and
inevitably were reunited on Facebook. Suzanne and Randy quickly rekindled their friendship and
began discussin wine, craft beer, and cooking –
specifically homemade granola.
It was at that time that Randy introduced Suzanne to his
special recipe that his friends and family had been raving
about. After one taste, Suzanne knew that this recipe
needed to be shared! It was that day that
Randy’s Granola was created.
As they say, the rest is history.
